Daily anagram text puzzle. One letter set. Five anagram solutions. Pure wordplay.
In short: Daily5X has no accounts and never asks who you are. Your entered words, personal puzzle history and streaks are stored in your own browser. Solve duration and shuffle count are also sent to our server when you complete a puzzle, to update aggregate totals. We do publish anonymous totals for each puzzle, such as how many people solved it. We show advertising through Google, which does use cookies.
Daily5X is operated by Steven Baker, who is the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law. For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights set out below, email hello@daily5x.com.
The game uses your browser's local storage to remember which puzzles you have started and solved, the words you have entered, your solve times, your shuffle counts, your streak, and cached puzzle data so the site loads quickly. Entered words and personal history are not transmitted to us. Completion duration and shuffle count are sent separately for aggregate statistics, as described below. It stays on that browser until you clear it, and clearing it will reset your progress and streak.
When you press Start Game, and again if you finish a puzzle, the site sends a single message recording that a play or a solve happened, together with how long the solve took and how many shuffles were used. The gameplay payload contains the puzzle identifier and event type; a completion also includes duration and shuffle count. It contains no name, account or player identifier. Like other requests, it reaches our hosting provider with technical request information, including an IP address. It is added to a running total for that puzzle and shown publicly on the Archive page. The stored puzzle totals do not contain individual player records. Technical request logs are separate from those totals.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and visitors. Vercel describes this service as cookieless and does not track visitors across different websites. It counts visitors using a hash derived from request information, discarded after 24 hours. Page-view data can include the URL, referrer, approximate location, browser and device type. Vercel processes this data on our behalf as our hosting provider. See Vercel's analytics privacy documentation.
We show advertising supplied by Google AdSense. You should know the following:
Google may provide a consent notice and privacy options according to the advertising configuration and your region. Where a notice appears, use its privacy options to review or change your choices. Playing Daily5X does not require an account or a purchase.
Like any website, our hosting provider records technical information when a page is requested, including your IP address, browser type and the page requested. This is used to deliver the site securely and to diagnose faults, and is held for a short period by the provider.
We rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving a free puzzle game for the anonymous puzzle totals and visitor measurement, which are used for aggregate measurement. We rely on your consent for advertising cookies where consent is required, where required.
Daily5X is suitable for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, erase or restrict the personal data we hold about you, to object to processing, and to data portability. In practice we hold very little: your gameplay data is on your own device and can be erased by clearing your browser storage, and the puzzle totals are anonymous and cannot be linked to you. For anything relating to advertising data, Google holds that data and their policies apply.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date below and, where the change affects how your data is used, ask again for any consent required.
